Standard rug sizes exist because looms and warehouses like them, not because rooms do. The moment a room has a bay window, a hearth, an island or an awkward turn, a rectangle is a compromise everybody lives with for a decade.

We make to an outline. Send a measured sketch — or a photograph with dimensions written on it — and the rug is cut and finished to that shape, with the edge treatment carried around every curve so it looks intentional rather than trimmed.

Runners are the most common request and the easiest to get wrong off the shelf: a hall is rarely a standard length, and a runner that stops half a metre short reads as a mistake every time somebody walks down it. Made to length, it simply disappears into the room.

How do I measure for an odd shape?

A dimensioned sketch is enough — overall width and length, then the position and size of anything the rug has to work around. A photograph with the measurements written on it works just as well; we will draw it up and send it back for approval.

Is a round rug more expensive?

Slightly, because the edge finish is longer per square metre and there is more waste in cutting. It is a modest difference, and far less than the cost of living with a rectangle that does not fit.
