Hand-tufting is what makes a genuinely bespoke rug affordable. Yarn is punched through a stretched backing to your drawing, so the design can be anything — a pattern, a monogram, a plan of the room it sits in — without the cost of a hand-knotted piece.

We tuft in New Zealand wool because it is the fibre that recovers. Wool springs back from furniture legs and footfall where synthetics crush flat and stay flat, it resists soiling, and it takes dye with a depth that polypropylene never quite reaches.

Pile height and density are yours to choose. A dense, low, tightly packed pile reads as tailored and takes heavy traffic; a longer, looser pile is softer underfoot and better in a bedroom. Carved detail — cutting the pile at different heights along a design line — adds definition without another colour.
